WORSHIP
Sundays
7:30am The Holy Eucharist, aka the Lord's Supper, the Mass, Holy Communion, following Rite One. It's live streamed HERE . This is our quiet service with no music and a smaller crowd (mostly grown-ups). The liturgy (form of worship) is in Rite 1 of the Book of Common Prayer, so the language of the prayers is the lovely Elizabethan prose of the Anglican tradition (“We praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee…”), which sinks deep into your soul over time. This service usually lasts about 45 minutes.
9:00am The Holy Eucharist, as above except that we follow Rite Two, using contemporary language (you/your). This is also a sung service, with hymns and choir. We do strive to maintain a reverent silence during the ten minutes or so before the service begins. Since this is our family service, you can expect to see and hear children doing what children naturally do. Rather than a distraction, we consider this an integral part of worship. We offer a children’s area at the back of the church where activity bags are provided. Kids are aware of everything going on around them, so even if they’re busy coloring or whatever, they’re still part of the worship, still absorbing it, still learning how to worship. All who are baptized are welcome to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. On most Sundays during the school year, after receiving Holy Communion, the children can go to Godly Play in Mills Hall. The rest of us sing some more, pray some more, hear the announcements, sing again, and then head over to Mills Hall for coffee/fellowship hour. The service usually lasts about 65 minutes.
Tuesday-Friday
8:30am: Morning Prayer: Rite One
